Day 255 - The Great Outdoors Giveaway! HR 1581

HR1581 is  a public lands bill currently in Congress, would take more than 50 million acres of wildlands that belong to the American people and open them up to oil, gas, mining, and timber companies for drilling, mining, and logging.

WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?  The National Parks are the only thing that is of great value anymore in America.  For $10 if you are over 65, you can get a year pass to be admitted into ANY national Park in America regardless of where you are from.  Why do you think so many international visitors are hiking at Zion?

Introduced by Rep. Kevin McCarthy of Bakersfield, this bill (H.R. 1581) would eliminate protection for wilderness study areas and Forest Service roadless areas -- exactly the kind of healthy, undisturbed lands that provide and safeguard clean air and water resources, supply habitat for plants and animals, and offer Americans a place to get outdoors and kayak, camp, fish, or hike. That's one reason why people in the outdoor recreation industry -- which, by the way, supports nearly 6.5 million jobs and contributes $730 billion annually to the U.S. economy -- are among the biggest opponents of this public lands giveaway. - from the Sierra Club Website

The right thing to do is to send your congressperson a letter by clicking on this link tell them you don't want him to vote for this.  And if he does, remember.  Remember on election day and vote his ass out!  Many Americans are worried about other Americans not working hard to get what they believe they are not entitled to due to disability or unfortunate circumstances.  These SHOULD be the same people who should be opposed to companies getting AMERICAN LAND for free.  They didn't work for it, they just lined a pocket of American Congressman.  The American People deserve better.  Stand up for what is yours.

This would be a travesty.  Please make your voice heard.  Click here:
